Choosing a UK creative agency
Are you looking for a UK creative agency to drive sales and take your digital marketing up a level? If so, you might be overwhelmed with what’s on offer. With so many agencies across the country, how can you choose which one to work with? Here are some points to consider as you start out.
Define Your Needs and Goals
Before you even visit Google, jot down some of your objectives first. Work out what you want the end goal to look like. Is it a new website? A social media restart? Rebranding? Decide what your maximum budget is and when you need everything finished by. Do you have any specific requirements, for example multiple languages or video production? Have all this to hand so that when you talk to a design agency you can be clear in what you want from them at the outset.
Ask around
Hold it – don’t go Googling just yet! Even in this modern era, word of mouth is still one of the best ways you can find recommendations for design agencies – and the ones to avoid. Ask your LinkedIn networks and colleagues who they have used, and see if they would be a good fit for you.
Search online
Okay, now you can Google! But try to be specific with your terms. “UK design agencies” will spit back thousands of results. Narrow your focus. For example, POSH focuses on those in the hospitality industry in Scotland, so if you were looking for someone like us, you could Google “hospitality digital agency Scotland” and we might be right up your street!
Ask to see examples
Most agencies will have case studies or design examples on their websites. You should be able to see current and former clients – are they in the same sort of industry as you are? Don’t be afraid to ask for examples which are more tailored to the sort of work you require. It’s also good to see testimonials from previous clients where you can check the work is up to your standard. Here are some of our testimonials.
Always evaluating
Throughout this process, make sure you are happy with how it’s going. For example, are you speaking to a different person each time you call, or do you have a single point of contact? Are they responsive? Do you get a good vibe from those at the agency? If you can, try and meet those who will be working directly on your project. Often, the person trying to win your work will not be involved in the day-to-day creation of blogs or pages, so make sure you know who you will be collaborating with.
Be upfront with budget
Always be clear on how much money you have in the budget right from the start. This will avoid disappointment later on, and can often lead to some creative thinking which can create truly original pieces of work.
Start a trial project
If you have a large piece of work, you might be nervous starting it with a new company. What if it doesn’t work out? One solution is that you could always try a shorter project, perhaps a few blogs or social media posts. This will link you directly with the creative team and if all goes smoothly, it will put your mind at ease.
Take your time
Always take your time to consider your options, and don’t be rushed. Ultimately, your gut instinct is important here – who can you see yourself working with for the next few months?
