With countless castles, unforgettable whisky tours, and the wild beauty of the Scottish countryside, Scotland has long been a popular destination for US tourists. However, many Americans have recently found themselves asking the same question: Are Americans welcome in Scotland in 2025?

If you’re an American reading this, then the short answer is yes, of course you are!

Scotland is one of the friendliest countries on earth, and we Scots love our American friends. This is something deeply embedded in our culture, and we love nothing more than showing Americans around the country and welcoming them with warm, Scottish hospitality.

However, we thought we’d tackle the question head-on and explain why there’s nothing to worry about if you’re planning a Scottish vacation and you’re from North America.

Is Scotland Open to US Tourists in 2025?

This is a big question on the lips of US travellers, and why so many Americans wonder, “Can Americans visit Scotland now?”, mostly due to travel logistics.

The answer is a resounding yes, and there are no travel restrictions in 2025 preventing Americans from visiting Scotland. None are on the horizon, either, and flights operate regularly from the US to major cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness, with entry requirements remaining the same as for any other international tourist.

All you need is a valid passport for short stays, with no visa required for anything less than six months in the country.

So yes, Scotland is open to everyone, including Americans! In fact, we can’t wait to meet you and show you around!

Where to Stay in Scotland

From boutique city hotels in Edinburgh to luxury hotels in Inverness, there are lots of options for US travellers looking to make a trip to Scotland, with accommodation as cosy as your welcome will be friendly.

For travellers heading north, Ness Walk in Inverness is a standout option combining five-star comfort with a distinctly Highland atmosphere. With spacious rooms, refined dining, and easy access to the attractions of the city and dramatic landscapes, it’s one of the highest-rated hotels in the country. Ness Walk has a longstanding tradition of welcoming US tourists, too, and the staff love hosting American tourists.

Then, there’s Stuckgowan Estates, offering serenity on Loch Lomond, and close to Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands. With grand houses like Stuckgowan, sleeping 19, Stucktaymore, sleeping 29, and Stuckdarach, sleeping 10, each of which is ideal for family gatherings, celebrations, or extended stays.

There’s also the fantastic, four-star Ulbster Arms in Thurso, a beautiful hotel nestled close to the Northern Highlands, and Eagle Brae, truly unique luxury log cabins in a remote, unique Highlands location.

Whichever you choose, you’ll find true hospitality in Scotland, with a welcome attitude towards Americans.

Inverness, Scotland: Things to Do

Of course, Edinburgh is a hotspot for US travellers, but Inverness is full of authentic Scottish experiences for US travellers.

For those looking for Inverness things to do, here are some highlights:

Loch Ness is the most famous loch in the country and is close to Ness Walk and The Kingsmills Hotels.

Culloden Battlefield is a historical site where the Jacobite rising of 1745 met its end. The visitor centre here has fantastic interactive exhibits.

Inverness Castle delivers stunning history, and the nearby river offers panoramic views of the city, as well as access to the beautiful Ness islands.

Whisky distilleries are also abundant, particularly in Speyside, which is easily reachable from Inverness.

Loch Lomond is another extremely popular loch with outdoor experiences local to the area in abundance and excellent accommodation options on the water.

Local food and culture are also high on the priority list in this part of Scotland, from traditional food to music, and more across the country.

Final Thoughts

With world-class landscapes, rich, vibrant cultures, and famously friendly people, Scotland is very much open for Americans.

Scotland and the USA have long had a deep connection, and many American tourists have family roots in the country. So, to answer the question “Are Americans welcome in Scotland in 2025?” The answer is a resounding yes! We love meeting new people here in Scotland, and Americans are among the most popular tourist groups in the country.

So, get your trip booked and see why America and Scotland are so closely linked. We can’t wait to meet you!

Thinking about travelling to Scotland in 2025? You aren’t alone, with over 92 million tourism visits to the country in 2024 and more in 2025. Many of these were from the good old US of A, whether it’s for the unique history, unbeatable scenery, whisky, or famously warm hospitality Scotland has to offer.

However, if you’re considering a trip, you probably have a few questions. In this guide, we’ll give you the answers you need, from flights and visas to things to do to where to stay. We’ll also explain how to stay safe, and most importantly, how to enjoy yourself.

Let’s get started!

Travel to Scotland 2025: Flights and Entry Requirements from the USA

Getting to Scotland is extremely simple for US travellers. This is down to direct flights operating daily from airports in New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, and more. Most head to Edinburgh or Glasgow, and many arrive at Inverness. The average flight time around the seven-hour mark from the East Coast.

For most US visitors, no visa is needed for a trip up to six months long. All you need is a valid US passport to clear immigration on the UK side. And don’t worry if your flight lands in England, maybe in London or Manchester, before connecting to Scotland. These connection flights are classed as domestic, as England is also part of the UK.

TLDR: Scotland travel 2025 is simple, and there are no barriers in place for American tourists.

USA to Scotland Travel 2025: Money and Exchange Rates

The official currency in Scotland is the British pound (GBP). This makes for a relatively affordable trip for Americans because the dollar has held strong against the pound in recent years.

For payments, you’ll find contactless payment options pretty much everywhere. However, if smaller towns are on your itinerary, consider carrying cash for local taxis and markets.

Most ATMs in cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Inverness are free for UK cardholders. However, there may be charges for using US credit cards. Check in advance with your card provider if you aren’t sure, and ask about international partnerships to reduce costs.

Travel to Scotland 2025: Seasonal Travel Tips

Scotland is famous for its unpredictable weather, so a top tip is to pack layers! Here’s a quick rundown of what else to expect from the seasons when travelling to Scotland in 2025 and beyond:

Spring (March to May)

Spring sees wildflowers bloom, and tourist numbers are pretty light compared to the rest of the year. This makes it a great time to explore the likes of Edinburgh and go for hikes and outdoor adventures in places like Loch Lomond.

Summer (June to August)

As you probably know, summer is the busiest time of year in Scotland with peak tourism. Your best bet to avoid expensive hotels and packed streets is to avoid Glasgow and Edinburgh.

However, long daylight hours (up to 18 hours in the North) make for great conditions to explore the Highlands and the amazing landscapes Scotland has to offer. However, book your accommodation well in advance as it can get very busy over the summer.

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn is beautiful in Scotland with crisp air, colourful foliage, and quieter attractions in busy areas. You really can’t beat the natural beauty of Scotland in the autumn months, and accommodation could be cheaper than in summer.

Winter (December to February)

Shorter days mean atmospheric stays in the winter months. As such, this is an extremely underrated time of year to visit the Scottish Highlands and other areas of the country.

With cosiness at the top of the agenda and skiing available in the likes of the Cairngorms, winter is a truly special time to visit Scotland. This is particularly true in the North and areas like Inverness that are surrounded by the incredible beauty of the Highlands.

Accommodation is also generally cheaper, and the weather is what makes the Scottish landscapes so special in the eyes of many US tourists.

Safety and Practical Tips for Travelling to Scotland in 2025

Scotland is one of the safest countries in Europe for tourists, with crime rates low in most areas. Normal precautions apply in cities, such as keeping your valuables secure and being aware in crowded areas.

Healthcare is accessible through the NHS for emergencies. However, we’d advise you to get travel insurance if you’re coming from the US.

Oh, and don’t forget, we drive on the left in Scotland! If you don’t fancy the challenge or a unique experience like hiring a Land Rover 4×4 for your Scottish road trip, our trains and buses are efficient and offer a serene, scenic transport option.

Where to Stay when Travelling to Scotland

Scotland is world-famous for its hospitality, and Ness Walk in Inverness is five-star encapsulated on the banks of the River Ness. Combining elegance and Highland charm, it’s the perfect location for exploring the city and he iconic Loch Ness. There are also lots of Loch Ness experiences like Inverness Castle, Loch Ness cruises, dolphin watching, whisky and food tours, and more.

For group travel, Stuckgowan Estates offers three beautiful private houses near Loch Lomond and the Highlands. With spacious interiors, private chefs, concierge services, and more, Stuckgowan is fantastic for family reunions and large group holidays.

Final Thoughts: Travelling to Scotland in 2025

Scotland is full of unforgettable moments and experiences, and the practicalities are nowhere near as complicated as many US tourists think.

With simple entry and favourable exchange rates, not to mention the warmest hospitality out there and enriching culture, travelling to Scotland in 2025 and beyond is safe and comfortable for travellers from around the world, including the US.

What are performance marketing agencies?

There was a time when agencies would throw out an advert for a product and just hope that it succeeded. It was hard to judge the success of one over another, so many went for a scattergun approach. In today’s digital world, that’s all changed. We are able to see exactly how many people see your Facebook advert or visit your latest blog or have connected through Instagram, and how many of those have bought a room, booked a table or bought a service. Performance marketing agencies like POSH are able to see exactly what works, and focus on your successes to bring more clients. Based in Scotland and serving all the UK, POSH Agency has your data at our fingertips.

What is performance marketing?

Performance marketing is a type of online marketing and advertising where advertisers only pay when a certain type of action happens. This could be a click, a sale or a download. It’s all data-led, meaning it requires a focused strategy from the outset. Ultimately, we are able to measure your performance and aim to get you in front of a new audience. If you want to make a sale, we’ll help you get there.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1000" height="667" src="https://poshagency.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/graphdata.png" alt="Data on a laptop holographic screen.
Is POSH a performance marketing agency?

Yes we are! At POSH, we love data, and we love what we can do with it. The advantage of partnering with a specialist performance marketing agency like us is that not only do we create your website, but we manage the data too. This means from day one we can strategise about the best way forward with you, whilst testing all the different ideas and options we come up with until we find what works for you and your customers.

This way, we can save you time by only promoting ads which work, which also saves you money too!

How we work with you in digital insights

Our experienced team come with years of knowledge of the digital world, working with companies in the hospitality sector and beyond. We’ll meet you and talk to you in depth to understand you, your business and its needs. We’ll figure out how to best spend your budget for maximum return on investment, and then start building tangible results.

Being an SEO copywriter is a job where no two days are the same. One minute you’re writing about artisan coffee, the next, it’s pressure washers. It’s just how things work in this often misunderstood role within digital marketing.

It’s probably why I always get asked what my average day looks like. So, let’s break it down to give you a better idea of what SEO copywriting really is and the reality behind the pages you read online.

The Start of My Day as An SEO Copywriter

I start by checking my to-do list to understand what needs doing and when. After replying to some emails and feeling pretty darn productive, I move on to one of the most important tasks of my working day, making a coffee.

Task One: Keyword Research

Keyword research is the backbone of search engine optimisation, so, coffee in hand, I start researching keywords for a batch of new blogs and service pages. I pray that I find terms with high volume and low difficulty that match the hilarious blog ideas I’ve come up with.

No luck, and I settle for a different angle on practically every piece. I’ll make them work.

Task Two: Actual SEO Copywriting

I add placeholders to the pages and blogs before I start, writing things like “CTA here, obviously” and “secondary keyword here, dur”. I make sure the H1 and first paragraph have that hallowed primary keyword included, and that my other headings are in place and ready to rock.

Then, I get to writing.

Obviously, I get carried away because I’m now suddenly very invested in what I’m writing, which is the different kinds of pressure washing services available in the UK.

I switch my focus to a milk frother blog, and find myself adding one to my cart. I don’t need a milk frother, but I suppose that’s the strength of compelling SEO copywriting, and the reason an SEO copywriter is a job in the first place?

I get another coffee.

Task Three: SEO Copywriter-Themed Existential Dread

Next, I start to disengage from reality because the best products might not be the best products, but simply have the best SEO. Are we all being fooled? Am I part of the problem?

This puts me into a bit of a spin, so I go out for lunch.

Lunch as An SEO Copywriter

I get into conversation with the waiter about what I do for a living. After failing to explain what an SEO copywriter is, I go with something along the lines of “I write websites so people can see them on Google” to a blank look.

Foolishly, I ask what he does for work, and he looks around, says “this”, and walks away. He doesn’t make small talk when he returns with my food.

Afternoon Task One: Competitor Research

I think about the lunch encounter a thousand times. Then, I start some competitor research for one of the blog articles I’m writing.

I find a ranking article and immediately judge their H1 tags, feeling smug. I then realise that I’ve written a similar article, which theirs is ranking higher for.

Audit time, but first, another coffee.

Afternoon Task Two: Write an SEO Optimised Service Page

Audit complete, I go back to my trusty to-do list and tackle a service page. I get into the groove with a clean structure, on-point metadata, and well-distributed keywords, and it even sounds like a person wrote it.

Because a person did write it. It was me.

I get way too into the writing and abandon my structure. I remember that people want a step-by-step guide built around search intent, not for me to run off on a tangent about the etymology of a verb I find interesting.

I re-focus and get a 90% ready draft completed. Job’s a good ‘en.

Afternoon Task Three: Optimise an Old Blog Post

Using the data from the audit, I refresh the old blog post so it can rank well with the Google overlords. This means doing all that good stuff: strategic edits using new terms, metadata rewrites, and deleting that one sentence that made me die inside on re-reading.

I then add internal links and polish off the blog with some good, royalty-free imagery and fantastic alt text. I’m as specific as possible, rather than writing something like “man smiling”.

Afternoon Task Four: Polish Off the Projects and Get Ready to Send

Time to get everything ready to send, which means loads of unnecessary final touches.

These include:

Rewriting a headline 12 times and realising SEO copywriting is mostly arguing with yourself.

Making another coffee, and noticing I didn’t drink my last one. Accidental cold brew, anyone?

Spending 20 minutes coming up with a fun CTA for a blog, just to remember the client wanted me to write “the usual contact details” instead.

Writing an email “briefly” explaining what I did for each page, which takes an hour.

Afternoon Task Five: Procrastinate

I need a fresh headspace before I click send, so I scroll through Google SERPs as if it’s Instagram. Nice featured snippet! I think to myself. I cringe.

The Final Task of The Day: Fire Off The Docs

Save the document. Attach to an email. Re-read and find two spelling errors. Edit and re-attach. Go back and remove the daft CTA I thought was cool at the time. Send to the client.

Rinse and repeat for every project I’ve done today.

The End of My Day as An SEO Copywriter

Close the laptop and hunt for the cat. The cat will make everything okay.

As we write this in the middle of 2025, the rise of ChatGPT and other AI tools seems only to be accelerating. As with any new technology, there are concerns about what this means for the future of websites and their content. There’s plenty to say, but for now let’s focus on one particular and important aspect of digital marketing – search engine optimisation (SEO). We’ve spoken at length about the importance of SEO on websites, and it’s something we focus on with all our clients. Making your website readable and easily understood is key to attracting, keeping and converting visitors. It’s how you get found on Google, which is a key metric for all businesses with an online presence. But what are the pros and cons of using ChatGPT for SEO?

Pros of ChatGPT

AI has become more sophisticated in its writing. It is able to knock up a 500 or 1,000 word blog in a matter of seconds. And, it’s free. You can sit at your desk and within five minutes have a fully written blog using any keywords you would like and upload it with a couple of images and boom, job done. And yes, AI can even generate the images for you, saving you even more time and money.

Multiply that over the course of a day and you could be churning out thousands of words, very easily, without the need to do any research, editing or understanding of the topic yourself. For only a few pounds, you could probably find someone on Fiverr to do it for you whilst you enjoy a round of golf or some time in front of the TV. This will result in a consistent publishing schedule that will ensure your website is constantly refreshed with new content – a key aspect of being Google-friendly.

ChatGPT can also create a variety of content types on a whim. From a funny blog post to a serious article, or from a LinkedIn post to Memorandum of Understanding, AI is versatile. Of course, it’s not just the finished product it produces. It can deliver outline strategies, article structures and even talk ideas out with you. Sometimes it feels like there’s nothing it can’t do!

Cons of ChatGPT

So we’ve established that AI can generate significant amounts of various content in very little time. However, it means if you’re doing that, then so are millions of people all over the world. Everyone is using the same regurgitated content on their sites and ultimately not producing anything new. How can you stand out? And what will make Google put you at the top of its organic search results over a competitor doing exactly the same?

Furthermore, it might even be making stuff up! “Hallucination” is a real problem where AI gets a bit confused and starts to make things up. If that’s then posted online, then other AI could pick it up, eventually spreading a load of nonsense. This will not reflect well on you or your business, and you will quickly lose the trust of your customers and Google.

Without human oversight, ChatGPT productions can result in poorly written, poorly researched and sub-standard work. Online users are quickly becoming able to pick up on what was ‘written by a robot’, and may feel that ultimately if you can’t be bothered putting the time into your web content, why should they put in the time reading it? The same applies to Google – it much prefers text written by a human (and yes, it’s very good at detecting when it isn’t).

For best results, use Human Intelligence!

Using ChatGPT for SEO has its place in digital marketing. However, it can’t do it on its own and needs a human to make it useful. Whether that’s re-writing or proofreading, a person needs to see and be able to make any changes in advance of publication. Best of all, however, is a researched article or blog with accurate information and, if possible, some unique local insight to a place or activity that adds depth and simply doesn’t exist elsewhere online. Only people can do this – and POSH does it the best! That’s some of us up there, ready to get to work for you.

The digital world is quickly moving toward a world without cookies. With GDPR-compliant tracking becoming the standard, businesses face challenges such as opt-outs, consent modes and ad blockers. These changes mean that online data comparisons are becoming less reliable. The inconsistencies in tracking data are forcing businesses to rethink how they measure and analyse digital performance.

Conversion paths are now more complex

Customer journeys are no longer straightforward. Conversion paths often involve multiple touchpoints across channels like Google Ads, social media and email. However, with tracking gaps, these contributions are not always fully attributed. This makes it harder to pinpoint which channels drive conversions. To get a clearer picture, businesses now focus more on overall revenue growth and less on individual channel data.

First-party data

In a world without third-party cookies, first-party data is essential. Businesses must rely on direct interactions with customers via websites, apps and social media platforms. Email addresses and device IDs will also be important. Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Facebook offer built-in tools for tracking activity, making them a valuable source of insights. By using first-party data, businesses can maintain personalised marketing and respect consumer privacy.

Server-side tracking

Server-side tracking offers more reliable cookieless tracking solutions compared to traditional methods. It reduces reliance on third-party cookies and provides improved digital marketing data accuracy. But even server-side solutions are not foolproof. Implementing these systems can be costly and managing them requires ongoing resources. Despite these challenges, server-side tracking is becoming a necessity for businesses aiming to stay competitive in a cookieless world.

Building consumer trust

Switching to GDPR-compliant tracking isn’t just a challenge, it’s also a chance to grow. By being clear and asking for the user’s permission, businesses can build trust and stronger customer relationships. This change helps brands focus on more personal and meaningful connections, which benefits both businesses and their customers.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1000" height="667" src="https://poshagency.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Cookie-Settings.jpg" alt="hand using computer laptop while choose to accept internet cookies policy or reject.

After years of challenges following Brexit, the German market visiting Scotland is showing signs of revival. For the first time since Brexit, reports indicate a rise in bookings from German travellers in November 2024. Notably, Germany has surpassed the USA in bookings this month for many clients, signalling a significant shift in tourism.

A key market for Scotland’s tourism

Germany has consistently been a vital market for Scottish tourism. In 2023, German visitors accounted for 9% of all international visits and 7% of overseas spending in Scotland. With 343,000 visits, 2.6 million overnight stays and £247 million in total expenditure, the German market visiting Scotland continues to stand out. The average trip lasts 7.6 nights, with an average spend per visit of £719.
Source: International Passenger Survey, 2023 (numbers have been rounded).

Why Germany loves Scotland

Scotland’s natural beauty, historic landmarks and unspoiled landscapes are key attractions for German travellers. Touring the countryside remains a top priority for visitors from Germany. This strong interest in Scotland’s landscapes helped the German market perform well in 2023, with visits exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 6% and spending up by 26%.

The 2024 Euro’s

Scotland playing in the 2024 Euros has also fueled interest from Germany, as German user’s visits to Scottish tourism websites increased by 83% during the tournament. This surge highlights the importance of leveraging sporting events to boost international tourism.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1000" height="667" src="https://poshagency.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Football-With-Flags.jpg" alt="Football ball with flags of european countries in the net of goal of football stadium.
Opportunities for growth in 2025

The continued growth of the German market visiting Scotland presents opportunities for the hospitality sector. With a shift towards more holiday-oriented visits post Brexit and pandemic, businesses can tailor their offerings to enhance the travel experience for German tourists. From curated tours to localised marketing campaigns, understanding the preferences of this market is key.

The world was a very different place in 2008. This was the year in finance when the Lehman Brothers Bank collapsed precipitating a global financial crash. In politics, President Obama was starting his second term in office and Gordon Brown was the UK Prime Minister. And here in Scotland, Jenny was just about to launch the business of her dreams – POSH. Over the years, we’ve learned plenty of tips on how to market a small business successfully.

Where to start marketing?

Marketing a small business is hard. Seeing it thrive is infinitely harder, but here we are, 16 years later and POSH is still leading the way in developing eye-catching, SEO optimised websites for businesses across the country.

Over the years, the strategies, tools, and approaches in digital marketing have undergone significant transformations. Social media has changed how we promote ourselves and our clients’ work, developing a new way of talking which simply didn’t exist 10 or 15 years ago. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the top 3 lessons we have learned about marketing for small businesses and how these insights have shaped the way we approach every new commission today.

1. Embrace Digitalisation

Marketing used to be TV and newspaper led. Not any more. The rise of the digital era has revolutionised marketing for small businesses. It meant we could stand shoulder-to shoulder on the same platforms as the largest businesses like Coke, Apple and Disney. We could place adverts in places we knew our customers would be, and track how successful these ads were. Using Facebook, Instagram and TikTok has been crucial to allow small businesses to be heard above large corporations.

Find out more about our digital marketing services here.

Key lesson: Embrace change. Nothing stays the same for long, and if you aren’t at the forefront of new ways of doing things, you will be left behind playing catchup.

2. Listen

No matter how big or small businesses are, you are always going to be dealing with a person. Whether that’s on the other end of the phone, over Teams or in person, you need to be able to make a connection. The best way to do this is to listen to what is being said, and ask questions.

Small businesses thrive on word of mouth, and this involves listening to customer feedback. When a customer gets great service, they are often keen to share this with their friends and family. This is the sort of marketing that money can’t buy! By being personable with everyone and listening to their needs, we can help ensure our business is the sort they will recommend.

Key lesson: When we listen, we can begin to see opportunities for marketing and business growth.

3. Content marketing drives results

There was a time when writing an online blog was seen as a hobby, like writing a diary. Today, blogs are a cornerstone of the web, and content marketing is crucial in pushing websites in front of the right set of eyes.

Content marketing such as blog posts, videos, or social media content, providing valuable and relevant information to a target audience. It sets you up as a position of authority, making potential customers trust you which, in turn, increases the likelihood that they will buy from you. Good content also engages in search engine optimisation, which makes your search results appear high when someone Googles what you do.

Find out more about our search engine optimisation services here.

Key lesson: Provide accessible, regular and relevant content to encourage new visitors to your site.

This time next year, Rodney…

We’ve learned plenty of lessons growing POSH and how to market a small business. But these three stand head and shoulders above the rest as being the basis for developing a successful enterprise. Embrace change, listen to clients and create worthwhile content. As an online marketing agency, by continuing following those lessons, we look forward to continue our growth for many more years to come. If you’d like to join us and hear more about how we can market your small business, get in touch with Jenny today.

In today’s digital age, new words, phrases and acronyms seem to pop up almost every day. This can leave people feeling left behind and completely confused when learning about digital marketing. Understanding key terms and concepts is essential for success in the online realm. So, let’s dive into some crucial digital marketing terms that every blogger, digital marketer, communicator and content creator should know to thrive in the competitive online landscape.

SERP (Search Engine Results Page)

SERP refers to the page displayed by search engines in response to a user’s query. Understanding SERP features such as featured snippets, knowledge panels, and local packs is crucial for optimising website content. This will help you to appear prominently in search results. By understanding how to get content onto a potential customer’s SERP, you can aim to increase sales.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

SEO is the practice of optimising your website content to rank higher in SERPs (see, you’re already getting the hang of this jargon!). One way to help with this is to use keywords – these are the phrases that people use to search online. By incorporating them in useful content, you can encourage more people to visit your site and attract more organic traffic from search engines like Google.

We’ve spoken at length before at SEO and the basics always remain the same. If you create high-quality copy that is focused on your business – and provide it consistently – then you are over halfway to ensuring you’ll get good search results. If you would like help providing timely content for your website to help with SEO, then just give us at POSH a shout.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click)

PPC is a digital advertising model where advertisers pay a fee each time their ad is clicked. It’s found on Google Ads and Facebook Ads. PPC allows users to create targeted campaigns to promote their content and drive traffic to their websites. By bidding on keywords and demographics, digital marketers can reach their target audience effectively and track the performance of their ads in real-time. It is a good way to advertise as you only pay each time your advert is clicked on, as opposed to every time someone simply views your advert. This means that you only pay for times a potential customer clicks on your advert.

CTA (Call to Action)

A CTA is a prompt that encourages readers to take a specific action. This could be subscribing to a newsletter, downloading a resource, or making a purchase. It’s vital to include clear and compelling CTAs on your website. Content like blog posts can help drive conversions and engage your audience. Whether it’s a clickable button, an image or a text link, CTAs should be strategically placed throughout your blog to guide readers towards desired actions. For example, do you want your web visitors to book a stay at your hotel? Then ensure you have clear “Book Now” buttons on your site, especially at the end of blogs which tell them about your wonderful accommodation. Parliament House Hotel in Edinburgh has excellent CTAs throughout their site.

And if you want blog readers to find out more about you, then direct them to an about us page like this!

ROI (Return on Investment)

ROI measures the effectiveness of your digital marketing efforts. It compares the cost of investment to the resulting benefits or revenue generated. For websites, ROI can be tracked through various metrics such as website traffic, engagement rates, lead generation, and ultimately, conversion rates. By analysing ROI metrics, we can evaluate the success of digital marketing campaigns. This can help direct future strategies. Here at POSH we can do this analysing for you. Our keen eye, educated through hundreds of hours of studying spreadsheets, will be sure to help you get a solid ROI.

Bounce Rate

Bounce rate tells us the percentage of visitors who land on one webpage but then leave without interacting further. A high bounce rate is often a bad thing, especially for those in the hospitality profession. That’s because it means there’s a good chance that the user did not get what they wanted form your site, and so went to another one instead. If you are looking to bring customers to your business, you usually want to attract and keep them on your page until they purchase goods or services. Want to bring your bounce rate down and sales up? Speak to us at POSH and we can help.

In conclusion, understanding these types of phrases is only the beginning. Mastering the art of digital marketing is a long process, so why not let us join you on your journey and we can help your website really shine? Get in touch with Jenny today.

Creating a new website or updating your pages for your hospitality business is a big step, and it’s important to do it correctly. Here at POSH we have many years of experience in delivering high quality websites for our hospitality customers. Hotels, cruise ships, guest houses, restaurants – you name it, we’ve worked on it! We design and build bespoke sites, and we have a budget site option too. So if you’re looking for the best hospitality design for your business, then we can help.

We’ve put together 11 top tips to consider when planning your design. They are all key elements to ensure the success of your site, and are something to discuss with your designer.

1. Great user experience

A good website is one where users can easily find the information they are looking for. This means having a clear button to your booking page, information on your rooms and rates and any special offers you may have.

Your potential guests will have hundreds of hotel or restaurant options to choose from and if they can’t find what they need within a few seconds, they will simply go to a competitor’s website instead. For example – how easy is it to check availability on Eagle Brae’s website?

2. Responsive design

Not everyone is using your website on a Windows desktop or iPhone. There are many different screen sizes available, including Androids phones, tablets and laptops. Make sure your website can adapt to any screen your potential customer may be using.

3. High quality images

People look at images first on websites, so you need to make sure they are high quality in order to draw them in further. We can arrange for a professional photographer to make your hospitality business stand out online. For example, look at the stunning photography of the lodges at Loch Lomond Waterfront.

4. Compelling content

Before anyone spends money online, they like to ensure they are spending it wisely. You can help in this decision by providing quality content about your business, including pages about your rooms or food, and even blogs on daily life in your area. Adding a bit of personality to your writing can really help you engage with potential customers online, further encouraging them to book. For example, Mackays Hotel in Wick sits on the shortest street in the world, and they use this to engage guests. Do you have anything unique that can hook in an audience?

5. Online booking

Whilst some people do still prefer to book over the phone, online booking is preferred by many. This means customers can see all available dates and even change their dates themselves without needing to call. You are also able to get an overview of all availability for the coming months.

6. Encourage reviews

Ask previous customers to leave reviews. This can help future customers decide to book with you. You may decide to host reviews externally on your social media, like Kingsmills Hotel.

7. Interactive features

Virtual tours of rooms or a chat assistant can help people decide to book. This is because you are immediately engaging with them and building a connection. An excellent example of both of these features can be found at Ness Walk in Inverness.

8. Loading Speed

Fast loading times are crucial for retaining visitors and improving SEO rankings. If your site is too slow to load, then people will simply click away and look at the next hit on their Google search results. We can help you optimise your website pages.

9. Consistent Branding

Each page of your site should be consistent in branding and tone of voice. Pages should feel a part of the same family, just like here on our own website!

10. Accessibility

It’s vital to ensure your website is accessible to all potential customers, including those who use page readers. We can do this by making sure your site uses alt text and readable font sizes.

11. Security

Finally, when dealing with people’s payment details, it’s important to factor in site security to keep them safe. We can help you decide what is best for your needs.

By incorporating these elements you can ensure the best hospitality design for your website. If you’d like to discuss any of this further, or would like to work with us on your project, just get in touch!

Are you looking for a UK creative agency to drive sales and take your digital marketing up a level? If so, you might be overwhelmed with what’s on offer. With so many agencies across the country, how can you choose which one to work with? Here are some points to consider as you start out.

Define Your Needs and Goals

Before you even visit Google, jot down some of your objectives first. Work out what you want the end goal to look like. Is it a new website? A social media restart? Rebranding? Decide what your maximum budget is and when you need everything finished by. Do you have any specific requirements, for example multiple languages or video production? Have all this to hand so that when you talk to a design agency you can be clear in what you want from them at the outset.

Ask around

Hold it – don’t go Googling just yet! Even in this modern era, word of mouth is still one of the best ways you can find recommendations for design agencies – and the ones to avoid. Ask your LinkedIn networks and colleagues who they have used, and see if they would be a good fit for you.

Search online

Okay, now you can Google! But try to be specific with your terms. “UK design agencies” will spit back thousands of results. Narrow your focus. For example, POSH focuses on those in the hospitality industry in Scotland, so if you were looking for someone like us, you could Google “hospitality digital agency Scotland” and we might be right up your street!

Ask to see examples

Most agencies will have case studies or design examples on their websites. You should be able to see current and former clients – are they in the same sort of industry as you are? Don’t be afraid to ask for examples which are more tailored to the sort of work you require. It’s also good to see testimonials from previous clients where you can check the work is up to your standard. Here are some of our testimonials.

Always evaluating

Throughout this process, make sure you are happy with how it’s going. For example, are you speaking to a different person each time you call, or do you have a single point of contact? Are they responsive? Do you get a good vibe from those at the agency? If you can, try and meet those who will be working directly on your project. Often, the person trying to win your work will not be involved in the day-to-day creation of blogs or pages, so make sure you know who you will be collaborating with.

Be upfront with budget

Always be clear on how much money you have in the budget right from the start. This will avoid disappointment later on, and can often lead to some creative thinking which can create truly original pieces of work.

Start a trial project

If you have a large piece of work, you might be nervous starting it with a new company. What if it doesn’t work out? One solution is that you could always try a shorter project, perhaps a few blogs or social media posts. This will link you directly with the creative team and if all goes smoothly, it will put your mind at ease.

Take your time

Always take your time to consider your options, and don’t be rushed. Ultimately, your gut instinct is important here – who can you see yourself working with for the next few months?

These are a few ideas to help you choose your UK creative agency. Of course, seeing as you are on the POSH site, we must be doing something right!
